Dr. Adrian Campbell is a Certified Professional Coach, Independent Research Scholar, and U.S. Coast Guard Veteran who helps first responders build nervous system readiness — the foundation for clarity, composure, and sustained service.
Through The Mindful Shield, Dr. Campbell integrates neuroscience, depth psychology, and somatic mindfulness to teach first responders how to work with their physiology instead of against it. Her programs are designed to strengthen performance under pressure, prevent burnout, and expand each responder’s capacity to recover efficiently after stress.
As a military veteran and educator at heart, Dr. Campbell brings a grounded and practical approach to human resilience and readiness education — uniting the science of the nervous system with the soul of service. The Mindful Shield was founded on the understanding that readiness is built before impact — that resilience can be trained proactively through consistent practices of awareness, regulation, and connection.
Her work bridges psychology, physiology, and mindfulness to offer proactive tools that help responders steady their bodies, quiet their minds, and strengthen their capacity to serve with focus, presence, and compassion.

With over 20 years of experience in leadership & training development in technical and high-stress industries, Dr. Campbell understands the demands of operational life and the importance of maintaining internal equilibrium.
Her eight years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard — including maritime law enforcement, life-saving operations, and military operations — helped shaped her belief that nervous system education is a form of risk mitigation.
At Pacifica Graduate Institute, she began exploring veteran and first responder well-being through the lens of Somatics and Depth Psychology, reframing regulation as a skill that sustains service rather than repairs damage.
Dr. Campbell has since partnered with organizations like Veterans Yoga Project, Team RWB, and the Veterans Administration to integrate embodied, proactive approaches to resilience and leadership.

The Mindful Shield was created to serve those who answer the call — the firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and frontline professionals whose nervous systems are their first line of defense.
This work is not about recovery; it’s about readiness.
It’s about understanding your body’s signals, regulating in real time, and leading from a state of calm presence.
Through workshops, courses, and guided practice spaces, Dr. Campbell helps responders build the capacity to stay steady, connected, and present — no matter the call.

Bring proactive nervous system education and embodied resilience training to your agency or organization.
